De Oude Smidse is a cosy Hotel Café-Restaurant located in the idyllic village of Westernieland,
2 km off the Wadden Sea. It borders on the village of Pieterburen widely known for its Seal Sanctuary, mudflat walking and the famous hiking trail Pieterpad. Westernieland is right in the middle of hiking trails, bike paths, canoeing, culture and a lot of nature. Here you have the ideal place to discover and explore a previously fairly unknown part of Holland with its people and places of interest.
Hallo! Yvonne Doesburg and Jörg Zart, the new owners of De Oude Smdse would like to introduce themselves and welcome you. For many years we worked in Asia and travelled around the world. We had a wonderful time then and there and visited many exotic places. But after 15 years it was time to come back home. We settled in one of the most beautiful areas in the Netherlands in the province of Groningen, Het Hoogeland (High Country).
